Prototype Overview:
The Series E2 Group 1000 is started serving for the enhancement of Tohoku Shinkansen opening since 2001.This train was operated by the express train "Hayate" that appeared at the same time as the opening of Hachinohe Station. The world's first fully active suspension as a high-speed train are adopted for the leading car and the green car that is worthy of special mention. The side windows are larger than the Group 0. The Series E2 currently operates mainly on the "Yamabiko" which is connected to the E3 series "Tsubasa".The Joetsu Shinkansen continues to operate as "Toki" and "Tanigawa".
