Prototype Overview:
The E257 Series Group 2000 and Group 2500 replaced the deterioration 185 series.The Group 2000 started operation in March 2020 and Group 2500 started operation as “ODORIKO” in March 2021.The Group 2000 has been modified based on the Group 0 that was previously operate as "Azusa" and "Kaiji", and the Group 2500 is based on the Group 500 that was operate in "Wakashio" and "Sazanami".The main changes include updating the control equipment and changing the lighting to LED. In addition, the design has been renewed by changing to a white and deep-blue color that matches the E261 series. The Group 2000 connect Tokyo and Izu, the Group 2500 connect Tokyo and the temple Shuzenji, and the Group 2000 and Group 2500 are operated multiple-section train between Tokyo and Ito.
