When using the PSX-ARSC with Kato Snap turnouts, install the Kato Snap Coil Adapter Board into the J9 terminal.

The PSX-ARSC auto reverser/circuit breaker has the flexibility to control a Kato turnout using three methods:

  1. Manual control using an SPDT Momentary Center Off toggle switch as shown in the diagram above
  2. Issuing a DCC accessory command to the PSX-AR using your DCC throttle or a computer interfacing with your DCC system
  3. Auto-Throw whereby a locomotive exits the reverse section at the gaps:
    • A short circuit occurs and
    • The PSX-AR changes the phase to the reverse section rails [clearing the short at 0.03ms] and
    • When the PSX-AR changes the DCC track phase it also changes the direction of DC power going to the Circuitron Tortoise, thereby changing the position of the Tortoise

In essence, the SPDT MOM CO toggle switch mimics the scenario initiating Auto-Throw. Rather than a locomotive causing a short at the gaps, the toggle switch creates a short within the reverse section, requiring the PSX-AR to reverse phase.

*Note the PSX-ARSC has the ability to also control solenoid motors from Atlas and Peco. Refer to the PSX-AR manual for connections to the J9 terminal.
