Let's start by defining the NCE Cab Bus: The NCE Cab bus connects NCE Command Control hardware items to the NCE Command Station.

These items allow you [or computer software] to issue DCC commands to mobile and accessory decoders on your layout.

NCE Command Control hardware includes:

  • CS02 and PH Box Command Stations
  • Pro Cab Throttles
  • Utility Cab throttles such as the Cab06 series
  • AIU [Auxiliary Input Unit], cab bus device
  • Mini-Panel, cab bus device
  • USB, cab bus device
  • RB02
  • UTP Panels
  • Modular cables with RJ-11 plugs

The number of Command Control throttles and cab bus devices with their respective address depends upon which Command Station you are using.

The Power Cab:

  • Address 2 is used by the Power Cab
  • Addresses 3, 4, 5 are for throttles or cab bus devices
  • Addresses 6,7 are reserved
  • Addresses 8,9, 10 are for cab bus devices only [AIU, mini panel, USB]

The SB5:

  • Addresses 2-7 are for throttles or cab bus devices
  • Addresses 8,9, 10 are for cab bus for devices only [AIU, mini panel, USB]

PH Box/ CS02 PH-Pro Command Stations:

  • Addresses 2-63 can be used for throttles or cab bus devices

Additional considerations for wireless radio throttle cabs and the RB02:

  • Pro Cab-R throttle [radio wireless] must use a cab address from 2-17 due to the Pro Cab's extended display requirements
  • All other wireless cab throttles, such as the Cab06 series, can use any cab address from 2–49
  • It is a good idea to use the upper numbers [18 - 49] for items other than radio Pro Cabs to keep the lower numbers [2-17] open for wireless Pro Cabs
