A High Horsepower Classic!
Rapido HO EMD GP40 Diesels

Introduced in 1965, the EMD GP40 was a major change for EMD with the introduction of the turbocharged 16-645 prime mover producing 3,000 horsepower. This would begin a successful legacy of reliable, long lasting motive power as the EMD 40 series of locomotives proved to be instrumental to keeping cargo moving quickly. Initially, the GP40 could be seen on high priority fast freight and TOFC trains. Later in life, they proved their worth as power for second class and local trains. Rapido's model will feature tons of road-specific prototype details and is available as Standard DC or with ESU LokSound DCC Sound installed at the factory.
