Hey folks, over the weekend, I had the opportunity to go to Saranac Lake, New York and ride down some old New York Central track, that is currently out of regular service, on railbikes. This opportunity came courtesy of a new company called Rail Explorers that just started their business up this year. They are the only place in North America where you can ride these unique man-powered vehicles down actual railroad tracks. Without a doubt, this is one of the most fun things I've done in years, and the scenery was absolutely breathtaking. The 6 miles of track we rode on are mostly level with a few very gentle grades and just enough downhill grades to add some real excitement. There are no sections that are too difficult for even out of shape folks, like myself. Their seasons ends October 12th, but they plan to reopen next Spring. We will definitely be going back, but for now, I've created a video featuring the highlights of our trip down the rails.  Check out our fun trip by clicking the video below, and check out the Rail Explorers website for all the details at www.railexplorers.net.
