Industrious motive power for your yards and industries! The GE 44-tonner has a storied history that begins in 1940 with GE designing a locomotive to circumvent the '90,000 Pound Rule' stipulating locomotives weighing more than 90,000 pounds (45 tons) required a fireman in the cab.

In 16 years, GE built 386 44-tonners in a variety of different phases, three of which are represented in this first run from Rapido; Phase Ic, Phase III, and Phase IVa. Twelve different roadnames from coast to coast are represented, in addition to three different unlettered versions and undecorated units!
