The PSX series of circuit breakers and PSX-AR auto reversers are a product of years of research by Larry Maiers into problems dealing with false overloads that cause premature shut down of DCC Boosters and other Circuit Breakers. These false overloads are caused by large capacitors used in sound systems, decoders, and lighted passenger cars. The overload appears as a short circuit until the capacitors are charged. The PSX Series determines if the load is a true short or just an overload due to a discharged capacitor.
The new PSXX has all of the features of the original PSX. However, the PSXX has a new and unique feature that no other circuit breaker or fuse (to our knowledge) possesses. When you set the trip current, which can be set in integer increments from 1 to 10 amperes, you not only set the current at which the breaker will shut off, you also set the maximum amount of current that the breaker will allow to flow
