Hi Guys, I am considering purchasing these but before I do I need to clarify whether it will be suitable for my needs. I have read online information on these products and watched some YouTube videos but I am still unsure about whether I can use the RRampMeter continuously as a current meter for my entire model railroad (I intend to permanently mount it on the fascia of my model railroad next to the control panel).

My model railroad is a very small HO scale switching shelf layout so I have no need for power boosters. I use a NCE Power Cab and I have a short length of programming track which is isolated from the rest of the railroad via an NCE Auto-SW.

Can I use the RrampMeter as a portable device with a bulb attached to the right side terminals as per the instructions? Do you think I can use the RrampMeter as a fixed current meter on my model railroad without having to resort to connecting up a bulb to the right side terminals? Any help you could give please would be much appreciated as I am very confused and just don’t understand the instructions.

Thanks in advance and Best regards…………Steven B.

Hi Steven, Thank you for reaching out to us. To clarify, all DCC systems have a DCC track booster. The Power Cab's booster is integrated into the plastic handheld throttle. Note the Power Cab's command station is also located within the handheld throttle body.

You can place a RRampMeter between:

  1. The PCP and PSXX circuit breaker
  2. The PSXX and Program Auto Switch
  3. Auto Switch and the Main Track & Program Track [measuring for both tracks]

Don't forget the PSXX circuit breakers to protect your locos, decoders and DCC system:
