From time to time we have had requests to use the GWire System for other decoders besides the Quantum Aristo and Magnum offerings. Currently the GWire System uses the NCE GWire ProCab Transmitter, the GWire Receiver and either the Aristo or Magnum large scale units.

Some large scale locos draw HO scale currents so the user can save money by using the the 2 AmpRevolutions. Here are diagrams and instructions for the HO/S Quantum Revolution.

Most other DCC mobile decoders and stationary decoders can also be connected to the GWire receiver. If you have a special request we can do the wiring for you or send the instructions.

Installing a QSI Solutions G-Wire Wireless Receiver on a Quantum Revolution-U Board.

Important!

The connections to the Quantum Revolution board are extremely delicate. A controlled heat soldering iron such as a Metcal with a very fine tip is recommended.

Once the radio is installed, you cannot use the DCC track for programming, upgrading, or operation unless the radio is disabled.

Before installing set the following CVs

  • CV11 (Packet timeout) to 1 for a 1 second packet timeout.
  • CV29 (Configuration data #1) to 2 for NMRA Digital Only.

Installing

Remove the protective sleeve from the board and make the four connections shown below using fine wire.
