Newly arrived for October 2019 is the Baldwin RF16 Sharknose. Taking design inspiration from Raymond Lowey's iconic T1 steam locomotive, the "sharknose" design was meant to set the RF16 apart from EMD and Alco's competing cab units of the time. A total of 160 A and B units were produced, most of which went to the Pennsylvania Railroad.

Broadway Limited's release of this locomotive features most of the paint schemes that the RF16s wore and are the only HO scale models in existence to have the correct front end profile that made these locomotives famous.

The paint and printing is crisp, clean, and prototypical. The text resolution is exceptional and you can even read the lettering on the builders and trustees plates. Just look at the pin striping on the Pennsylvania units!

These models are available in five different paint schemes, with the PRR, NYC, B&O, and D&H all represented. As per usual, they all come factory equipped with BLI's proprietary Paragon3 DC/DCC/Sound. It is important to note that the B units in the A/B sets are not powered, however BLI is offering separate powered A and B units.

Additionally, it has been brought to our attention upon inspection of these locomotives here in our shop that the Delaware & Hudson units have a cosmetic issue that may affect users with tight turn radius layouts. The step ladder, circled in red in the photo below impedes the swivel movement of the front truck. To fix this, unscrew the step ladder and re-position it so that it sits slightly ahead of the front truck.
