As a Lifelike dealer we received a display model of the 0-8-0, the second loco in the now acclaimed Heritage series.

The loco detail and running characteristics are excellent as is the 0-8-0's predecessor the 2-8-8-2.

Although the 0-8-0 is DCC ready, the DCC receptacle is the same as the configuration used on the P2K GP7/GP30, which requires a change to 12 Volt bulbs or a 150 Ohm dropping resistor for the loco's 3 Volt bulbs.

There is enough room for any DCC decoder with the standard NMRA 2x4 pin plug assy.

We installed a Soundtraxx DSD150 steam sound unit by using the Lenz harness assy listed as Whpl on the Tony's Lenz product list.

The 0-8-0 tender has a weight that needs some minor modification to provide enough space for the DSD150.

The coal bin area is small so the 1" diameter speaker we normally use for small HO tenders is too large. We used a new 3/4" x 1 9/16" oval speaker which we intend to introduce soon.

The installation proved to be a success with great sound and performance.

Since we received this demo unit I hope that production units will soon follow. That would make sense but don't hold your breath!
