Tony’s Goes to East Coast Santa Fe Modelers Meeting

Posted by on May 12, 2016 in Blog, News |

May 12th, 2016 This past weekend Larry Maier, Tony’s design engineer, and I attended the annual meeting of the East Coast Santa Fe Modelers group in Doylestown, PA. While rekindling friendships and forging new ones, we were able to visit three significant model railroads in varying degrees of completion. Common to each railroad is the significant time invested in each one. These are large private layouts and each one has contributions from members of a round robin...

Digitrax Zephyr and PSX-AR

Posted by on Jul 8, 2015 in Blog, Tech Specs, Tips DCC Components, Tips DCC Systems, Tony's Tips |

I would appreciate some help in setting up PSX-AR with a Digitrax Zephyr Extra DCS-51.  Here’s some of the questions. I have checked software version with LED D6 – It is version K. I understand that I should install a jumper J7-3 to J7-4 and that prevents PSX-AR from misinterpreting multiple commands Digitrax sends on startup? Does that mean that there are no “special programming instructions” for Digitrax? The manual packed with the PSX-AR is rev M...

PSX Flashes D6 LED on Start up

Posted by on Jul 8, 2015 in Blog, Tips DCC Components, Tony's Tips |

Buy PSX & PSX-AR Hi Guys, On power up, one PSX always flashes a brief D6 led before normal D7 comes on.  This happens with or without load or locos on that power district. Otherwise system operates well. Purposeful short functions and recovers normally. Is this a concern? Thank You, Larry Kedes Hi Larry, Not a problem. When first turned on, the PSX assumes there is a short on the track and has the output off (D6 is then on). Once it has successfully run through its...

PSX Tripping at The Reverse Loop Boundary

Posted by on Jul 8, 2015 in Blog, Tips DCC Components, Tony's Tips |

Buy PSX & PSX-AR Hi Erik & Larry, I am having the following problem with PSX boards. I Bought 2 PSX-4 boards from you within the last month, so they are new. I installed one PSX along with two PSX-AR boards on reverse loops, on my customer’s layout. It’s a NCE system with two 5 Amp boosters, boosters do not show short. Testing with a single loco (no rolling stock)  when the loco crosses from the reverse loop (needing a polarity switch) into the PSX district, the PSX...

Adding Delay for PSX & PSX-AR

Posted by on Jul 8, 2015 in Blog, Tips DCC Components, Tony's Tips |

Buy PSX & PSX-AR I have a small HO layout (11′ X 11″ with three levels) and recently converted to DCC with the MRC Prodigy Advance2 system. My main bus wire is 12g with 22g feeders every 3′. I have 3 reverse loops and initially used Digitrax AR-1 reversers which worked fine and I had no electrical problems. A month ago I decided to add 4 PSX circuit breakers and quickly realized that I had to add manual switches for the shorts, otherwise, the other...
