GE U50 on the Horizon for Athearn

Athearn is working on a "Ready To Roll" HO model of the General Electric U50.

These dual engine giants were essentially two U25s on the same chassis. Built on chassis of retired Gas Turbines these unique giants should be a welcome addition to your locomotive roster.

Athearn is most likely using the same chassis as their successful UP Gas Turbine locomotive making this a prime candidate for sound installation. Union Pacific and Southern Pacific both used this model and Athearn will be offering it in both schemes.

Tentative release date is late fall 2011.
