The new FA releases from Precision craft Models are impressive. This release continues to show improvements that have been evolving as PCM's offerings are released.

New Precision Craft Models Alco FA Sets in HO Scale

The new PCM FA sets have arrived and they are nice. First noticed was the large amount of separately applied detail parts and the prototypical paint job (my tester was a Great Northern in the classic orange and green scheme). The roof grill-work on this loco is amazing, ultra fine wire grill that you can clearly see the fans through.

The sound on the unit is a step up, it has one of the best Alco sounds I've ever heard. The notching effects are superb with a clear horn and resonating bell. These locos pull well with both units powered by a dual flywheel skewed armature 5 pole can motors. Both units came with operating sprung diaphragms, which in the case of the Southern Pacific model will match perfectly with the complete line of Daylight Special passenger cars scheduled for release July 2007. Bottom line is if you're looking for a FA set these are a good option.
