Here is the recap of info for upgrading the performance of
your QSI sound equipped locos released by Broadway Ltd, Atlas and
Life-Like.
For more detailed info on QSI aftermarket products see QSI Solutions' web site.
List: $29.95
- Why is the Upgrade Chip a good investment?
- About 50 revisions are included in the Upgrade.
- The new chip is necessary, not only because the software upgrade will not
run on the old chip but the new chip will also be necessary for the
downloading process using the "Quantum Programmer" coming in
the late summer.
- The Upgrade Will Be Primarily Offered To Users For Self Installation!
We have no requirement for you to send your loco to us unless you want us
to do the installation.
- A complete set of color instructions, specific for each loco, will be
furnished with each Upgrade ROM
- A reasonably priced chip extraction tool is recommended and will be
offered.
- A complete list of all QSI equiped OEM locos and the corresponding Upgrade
software IDs are here.
- How to Order the Upgrade Chip
- Determine exactly what QSI equipped loco you have. If you have the box
or instructions then the catalogue number and features appear on the box.
Caution: There are some subtle differences for the same locos with
different road names that will require different upgrades, for example E7
with or w/o Mars Lite.
- Review the following lists to find your loco. Jot down the loco
nomenclature and the upgrade software ID. Double check your selection. If
you have any doubt or have questions, please contact us.
- Order online, or call or fax us and be sure
to give us the loco nomenclature and the software identification number.
Example:
E3/6 with Mars Light (potentiometer) - ho115f17
E3/6 without Mars Light (potentiometer) - ho116f17
E3/6 with Mars Light (reed switch) - ho121f09
E3/6 without Mars Light (reed switch) - ho122f09
- We expect to begin shipping some initial item numbers in late March,
the E7 is first, under testing now, and the complete roster several months
after.
- When is the Upgrade coming from the OEMs?
The Upgrade Chip and software will not be available in present or coming OEM
loco releases for at least 3 months or more. This is in part due to the long
lead times for the OEM process. We will post info re: OEM upgrade status as
soon as we have it.
