Soundtraxx Diesel PnP Notes.

We have started to install several of the new PnP Soundtraxx Diesel DSDs and are beginning to optimize speaker options based on trying to find the largest speaker that will fit with minimum modification to the hardware.

Atlas HO GP40 & GP38

We used the Soundtraxx PnP decoder DSD-AT100LC, #820041 which replaces the original loco circuit board. As with most of these Atlas, Kato and Athearn Genesis Diesel locos PnP units, we had to modify the loco's lighting to use the DSD's lighting output.

We struck gold in speaker selection by using the new Tony's 20mm x 40mm oval speaker that is a perfect fit into the removable dynamic brake fairing.

Atlas RS-1, 3 & 11

We used the Soundtraxx PnP decoder DSD-AT100LC, #820042 Alco, again a loco circuit board replacement. Most Alco RS users have been waiting for a sound unit that would fit and this does. Performance is somewhat limited because we were only able to use 1/2" speakers under the fans. We are still looking for a 0.65" speaker for these applications.
