PREVIEW OF MRC’S NEW PRODIGY DCC SYSTEM

Model Rectifier Corporation’s newest offering brings a vastly improved basic system to the DCC market. The new system called "PRODIGY" includes a command station with a 3.5 A booster, a separate power supply, and a walk-around throttle.

Features include:

  • 2 Digit Addressing
  • Compatibility with MRC 2000 components
  • Easy Consisting
  • True walk-around Capability
  • Maximum 4 Cabs
  • Maximum 32 Addresses
  • 5 function control
  • Limited Programming

Although PRODIGY will operate most functions on a sound decoder, sound parameters cannot be programmed as the system only provides capability to program CVs 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 8 & 29. This also limits programming loadable speed tables!

Keeping things simple, Prodigy operates in the 28 speed-step mode. As for operating stationary decoders, the Dispatcher handheld will be released sometime in the future to provide that capability.
