Bachmann N 2-6-6-2 Questionable

We received a shipment of these about a week ago when we were leaving for the Big E Trainshow. Our testing was delayed until last Thursday and then we experienced a major problem. At least 80% of our shipment would easily derail!

After trouble-shooting we determined that the loco drivers were considerably undergauged. We regauged them correctly and then discovered that at the wider proper
gauge the drivers would interfere with the side rods and lock up.

At this point we decided to return all to our supplier.

There does not appear to be an easy fix. The design clearance between proper gauge and side rods may not be sufficient. Maybe we have a bad batch so we are pursuing this further with Bachmann.
